Well you must be a fan of classic sitcom Father Ted! Good news then, as Tedfest is coming to London this weekend. The Friends of Ted Festival, or Ted Fest, is an annual fan convention usually held on the island of Inishmore, off the coast of County Galway, Ireland but this year it is also coming to the London Irish Centre in Camden. Tedfest London has plenty to offer fans including The Lovely Girls Contest, Ted's Got Talent, Priests vs Nuns 5-a-side football match, quiz, live music and much more. Glastonbury Glad Rags! June 20 2014

It's just five days to go until Glastonbury Festival opens it's gates to thousands of  lucky ticket holders. Arguably the best festival in the world, Glastonbury has been a highlight of the summer since 1970. The first festival was held the day after Jimi Hendrix died and was just £1 a ticket (including free milk!). 1,500 attendees saw the likes of the Kinks and "Mad Mick" perform on Michael Eavis' farm.

From such humble beginnings, the festival has grown more and more popular and really took off in the 90s. Nowadays tickets...

He's getting married in the morning....... June 13 2014

It's that time of year. Stag and hen do season!

Also known as a bachelor party or buck's night, the stag do is the opportunity for the best man and friends to send the groom into married life with one last wild night (or, more often, a whole weekend!) to remember! The best man often visits our stores looking for the most embarrassing, unflattering, horrible costume to dress the stag in. However, some are kinder and choose a general theme for the whole group to join in with. If you're in charge of organising the festivities, here are some ideas.

The 8 Groups Of People You Will See At Every Festival May 22 2014 1 Comment

The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer and I'm sure I just heard the chime of the ice-cream van.....summer is almost here! This summer is packed full with exciting events like the World Cup and the ever increasing roster of festivals. Fancy dress is a very important element when it comes to festivals, with more and more organisers deciding to set official themes for their events. We will be looking at individual festivals and their themes in the coming months but for now here are the 8 groups you see at every festival!

Mad World Charing Cross hits the small screen May 13 2014

Very recently London was lucky enough to get a brand new channel on the EPG - London Live. As well as showing classic episodes of London set sitcoms such as Spaced, Peep Show and Misfits, the channel has plenty of original programming all about London. Last week, Mad World's Charing Cross branch featured on comedian and presenter Jeff Leach's new show "Jeff Leach +1". The show follows Jeff as he explores London's most unique and alternative nights out with the viewer as his "plus 1"! You can watch the full show on catch up on London Live's website here.

....and a happy new year! December 28 2013

We've had a very busy December here at Mad World, providing many Father Christmases, elves, reindeer and snowmen with their costumes and sold many a silly hat for Secret Santa and office parties.

The turkey hat was a best-seller!

Now the focus turns to New Years Eve and the many fun events happening all over London. Many New Year's Eve parties are embracing fancy dress this year, most of them choosing to go back in time to a more glamorous era such as 1920s Prohibition or classic Hollywood.

Get ready for World Zombie Day London October 07 2013

This Saturday (October 12th) is World Zombie Day. Don't panic, we don't mean it's a zombie apocalypse - just an international annual event that grew from Pittsburgh’s first Zombie Walk at Monroeville Mall in 2006 (the site where George Romero filmed Dawn of the Dead) to help all fans of zombie culture come together in an international effort to relieve hunger and homelessness.

The London event takes the form of a zombie walk through central London. The zombie horde will gather at a set time and place then make their way around a pre-arranged...

Reading and Leeds festivals are held every August bank holiday weekend - the events take place simultaneously, sharing the same bill. The Reading Festival, the original and senior leg of the two, is the world's oldest popular music festival still in existence. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. June 20 2013

2013 is the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's classic novel Pride and Prejudice and naturally there are events for aficionados  to celebrate the milestone. The Jane Austen Netherfield Ball, taking place in Bath this weekend, is a Regency dance with strict period dress code. All ladies and gentlemen are expected to dress in the style of the Regency or 18th Century period. The look is the Empire line, with a high waist just below the bust, very flattering and feels wonderful to wear. You could don your bonnet and find your Darcy at the Pride and Prejudice outdoor theatre at...
