Get ready for World Zombie Day London

This Saturday (October 12th) is World Zombie Day. Don't panic, we don't mean it's a zombie apocalypse - just an international annual event that grew from Pittsburgh’s first Zombie Walk at Monroeville Mall in 2006 (the site where George Romero filmed Dawn of the Dead) to help all fans of zombie culture come together in an international effort to relieve hunger and homelessness.

The London event takes the form of a zombie walk through central London. The zombie horde will gather at a set time and place then make their way around a pre-arranged route, stopping at set points. The route is kept secret until the day before and can be found on the World Zombie Day London social media pages.

The event is free to join in with however, one of the purposes of the event is to raise money for St. Mungos charity so donations via the JustGiving page or some change in the charity buckets along the route would be gratefully received! As well as raising money, the organisers are also asking zombies to bring along any unwanted tinned, jarred and packets of food, household cleaners, toiletries etc to donate to Hackney Foodbank....after all, zombies don't eat store cupboard food - just brains! Advance tickets are available for the after-parties if you want to party with the undead! All proceeds will go to St. Mungos.

All Mad World stores are now fully stocked with the all important fake blood, face paints and liquid latex necessary for the zombie look. So why not join in and practise your zombie moves for Halloween.....which is now only three weeks away! Keep an eye on our facebook and twitter for daily updates, fancy dress news and ideas in the run up to Halloween. Don't forget we are open every day and our staff are happy to help with any queries and we can even do advance bookings (hire stock only). So no need to leave it til the last minute to sort out your costume!
